The drum pattern programmer is a web implementation of the familiar drum-machine style interface for creating drum patterns. Each column in the table of checkboxes represents a sixteenth note within a musical beat. The beat boundaries are reinforced by the repeating color pattern. The rows of the table represent the instruments of the drum kit. Clicking "Create" sends the note information to the server where a MIDI file is generated and sent back the Web browser. Right-click (PC) or hold down the mouse button (Macintosh) on "current pattern" to save the drum beat to your hard disk. (Hint for beginners: Start simple. Try placing a kick drum every four columns and a snare drum every two columns. Click "Create.") (To use the programmer, your browser will need a MIDI player plug-in, which it almost certainly already has.)
Note: The drum pattern programmer uses a pop-up window to play MIDI files. Please make sure your Web Browser is not blocking pop-up windows.
